Around DC

Outside of the bubble-on-a-hill that is Georgetown, there are many places that can be accessed as a quick getaway when you want to find a quiet place to study, or a study break in general, Here are some trails that can offer an escape route from red bricks, "G" acronyms, and that smelly kid down the hall.

Great Falls: a one-hour bike ride can take you to one of the most beautiful areas on all of the Potomac. Find the trail by walking down the Exorcist steps, turning right, and walking about 2 blocks past the gas station. You will see a path that leads down toward the right. Take this path under Canal street, and ride the concrete path upstream and end up in Bethesda, or take the dirt path right beside the asphalt to reach Great Falls.

Mount Vernon Trail: right across the Key Bridge lies a trail that travels 18 miles to Mount Vernon. Along the way are Old Town Alexandria, and a great view of the monuments from across the river. Starting at Georgetown, travel across the down-river side of the Key Bridge. After the bridge ends, walk another half block and there will ben asphalt trail that leads off toward the left.
