Backpacking
For those people who seek a way to get into the beautiful wilderness areas of the Mid-Atlantic region, meet new friends, and learn back-country skills. We run regular trips to George Washington and Monongahela National Forests, and Shenandoah National Park. All transportation, equipment and food is provided in the cost of the program. These trips are led by students that have completed the GOAT program.
Weekends: These trips are held throughout both semesters and include a pre-trip informational meeting. Participants should expect to leave Friday afternoon or early Saturday morning and return to campus Sunday evening.
Extended Weekends: During holidays, we offer 3 and 4 day hiking loops that enable participants to get additional time in the outdoors, and reinforce newly acquired hiking/camping knowledge.
Spring Break: We offer week long plus expeditions during Spring break to locations that we can’t travel to during the regular year. The trips are led by our most experienced instructors and are being held in Tuscany, Italy, and Joshua Tree National Park, California. Please inquire at the office (202) 687-0222 for more information.
