On Campus

Each semester, Outdoor Education hosts a variety of events on-campus. These events seek to share the beauty, growth, and adventure offered through the outdoors through film festivals, speakers, and events. Past events have included:

The Telluride Mountain Film Festival: Held each November right here on campus, this is your chance to see the best films from the internationally acclaimed four-day Mountain Film and Mountain Symposium held each May in Telluride, Colorado. These films, by some of the world's best outdoor cinematographers, present a broad range of mountain themes celebrating traditional mountaineering, dramatic adventure, global environmentalism, indigenous cultures and the astonishing beauty of the natural world. The Liquid Lifestyles Film Tour: Emmy Award-winning cinematographer and world-renowned kayaker Scott Lindgren chronicles the best expedition kayakers today as they experience exotic cultures, stunning scenery, and incredible adventure as they seek out the most visually-stunning whitewater descents ever to grace the big screen. The Elements of Adrenaline Tour: Sponsored by Outside Magazine, this film combines extreme footage from BASE jumping, kayaking, and skiing into an action-packed sixty minutes of pure adrenaline. For more info, got to www.outsideonline.com/elementsofadrenaline.

Wilderness Circle: Georgetown outdoorspeople gather to hear the tales from the many faculty and staff adventurers hiding out on our campus. Past presentations have included Professor Haught (Theology) speaking on nature and cosmology, Professor Lamielle (Psychology) telling of his bicycle trek following the Lewis and Clark Trail, and Professor Slakey (Physics) detailing his quest to become the 28th American ever to summit Everest.
